FaustHouse Havanese only produces 3-5 litters per year.  If you don’t see any puppies listed under the “Current Litter” tab, I invite you to inquire whether or not I have puppies available or on the way.  If we do not have any puppies, chances are, we know of another reputable breeder in the Havanese Community that has puppies or is expecting puppies.

The Havanese breed is such an affectionate and desirable breed; it is not uncommon for families to be on our waiting list for 6-12 months.  To get on our wait list, we require an application that has been approved along with a $500 non-refundable deposit.  If the applications section is turned off, you may send us an inquiry using to “Contact Us” form, so that I may notify you when the applications are open again.  Once the applications are turned on, we will take our next 15 applications for the year’s upcoming litters and then turn the applications back off until we need more families.  Our puppies are typically already reserved before they are ever conceived.  Once your application is approved, it is up to the applicant to send in their deposit as soon as possible.  Pick numbers are reserved in the order that the deposits have been received.  For example, if you were on the approved list, and your deposit arrived first, you would get the first pick from the puppies (after the breeder’s choice).  If your deposit was second, you would get the second pick from the litter.  We reserve pick numbers, not a particular puppy.  All inquiries will be held for up to one year.

The online application will ask for 3 references. I encourage you to provide contact information, with one being from a veterinarian (either past or present) and 2 non-family references that know you, your family’s environment and living situation.  Incomplete applications will NOT be processed.  Please inform your references that we will be calling to ask a few questions. If you are not interested in filling out an application, or providing references, then you don’t want one of our puppies.  Please don’t waste your time or mine by filling out an application without references.

Not only do I check applicant references, but we offer to supply references from families that have adopted one of our puppies.  We encourage you to do your homework as recommended by AKC for choosing a responsible breeder.  We also have the a references section on this site where some families have chosen to give feedback regarding their puppy adoption experience.

Once one. of our females delivers,  all approved families on the waitlist will be notified of the arrival, so everyone will be able to watch the puppies as they are growing up by a webcam.   From Week 2 until pickup day, a webcam is available for families to watch the puppies develop from day-to-day.  There will also be a link address under the “Current Litters” page.

Home visits are encouraged after puppies have had their first set of shots–at approximately around 6 weeks of age. Havanese puppies typically leave our home around 8-10 weeks of age, depending on their maturity and development.  If you have any pets currently living in your home, we ask that you bring an old laundered sock.  During the visit, you will be able to rub the sock on your puppy so that you may take its smell back home to acclimate your pet for the new arrival.  Some families have stuffed their socks to form a little smelly tube that they place in the current pet’s bed.  That way, they can get used to something, smelling like a puppy, being in their bed.

The last part of the process…… Pick up your bundle of joy to take to his/her new forever home.  For the big day, plan to be at my home for about 30 minutes.   We will have bathed and groomed your new puppy before it transitions to his/her forever home.  Please plan to provide calm and soothing travel and a relaxed puppy space for about the next week.  The puppy will be scared being in a new place, possibly by themselves, with new person(s).  We also recommend limiting new visitors as puppy starts to get familiar with his new environment.  If you are unable to pick up your puppy during the given time frame, you may want to pass until the next litter.  Occasionally, a puppy will be held longer (with daily boarding fees applicable) but it will be important for puppy to start forming a bond with their family between 10-16 weeks of age.
